Hi devs, I recently noticed that a number of instruments had their initial volumes set to the default 1.0 on a few sequences, some of them very old sequences that I had not updated in months. Some of the instruments I've noticed so far were electric guitar, electric piano, and some of the string instruments. What's odd is that when I can hear that the volumes were affected, but when I open the sequence and go to the instrument simple settings menu, I see that the volume slider looks just fine. When I go to the advanced menu, I see that the volume is set to default.

Other things that I am noticing is that when I over the volume slider in both the simple and advanced menu and over any instrument, the tooltip shows a value of 1.00. If I move the slider, I still get 1.00, but then a second tooltip shows up in a different color that reads the correct value. The initial tooltip is in a transparent dark grey, the other is a more opaque white color.

I noticed this issue within the past few hours. The volumes were fine this morning around 8am, but when editing sequences around 8:30am - 9am that's when I noticed the volume issues. This doesn't affect any markers.

I'm not sure if this is a transient issue, but I'm concerned about saving any sequences. Please let me know if there's any way that I can provide more information about the issue. I'm not sure how to submit screenshots in the forum, but I can at least provide one of the sequences where the issue is easy to spot. The following sequence used to have the initial volume for electric guitar set to about 0.06 and electric piano set to about 0.11. Both now initialize at 1.00 volume until the markers update the volume:

If you need any more information, please feel free to reach out. I'm more than happy to help troubleshoot.

I've submitted some screenshots where I managed to reproduce the issues a few different ways and document the steps taken. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help troubleshoot or if I can provide more information.

I ran some more tests on the sequence linked in the first post and I found that if you drag the position of the simple volume control window, several of the volume sliders snap to 1.00. I'm not entirely sure why only some of them snap to that volume. I'm guessing it's the ones with markers on the first step of the sequence, but I haven't tested that theory.

I created a new sequence just for troubleshooting the issue. I placed a note for each instrument and then changed the volume value for each one above and below 1.00. I then saved the sequence and reloaded it. After reloading, the sliders all returned to 1.00. I also notice the same issue where the black tooltip always displays 1.00, but a white tooltip shows the true value.

The sequence linked below was last saved with each instrument set to volume 0.00. If the issue is present, these volumes will have all snapped back to 1.00 upon opening the sequence.

Came here to post this running history of what I was seeing.  Spoopy beat me to it Smile

hey friendos, not sure if i should report as a bug yet, trying to narrow it down.  in the last hour or two when im listening to sequences that have some instruments (trombone for example)    the instrument's saved volume is at default instead of whatever it was saved at.

taking markers out of the equation, here's an example.  measure 17 comes in and the trombone is ridiculously loud.  getInitialInstrumentVolume(10) returns 1.  i haven't changed the sequence since january and it wasn't anywhere like this.

first noticed it on this one at measure 21.

and i figured oops, i must have jacked it up during edits last night.

Hoping the values in the database didn't change and it's just an issue with the getInitialInstrumentVolume?

not occurring in all sequences with trombone.

occurs here with drumkit, this sequence is pretty simple

My fault. I'll have it fixed in a few hours. It's a client bug, so your old sequence data hasn't changed on the server.

It's fixed now, but if you saved your sequence during this time then the reset volume was saved, so you'll need to save the sequence again with the correct volume.
